1 Locks with a single lift of 4.0m (13ft).  Cataraqui River was diverted from its original route through the canal.  A small dam and later hydroelectric station was built to use the surplus waste water.  The station sits below the weir.  Storage elevator for a grist mill sits on the far side of the weir.  A defensible locks master's house sits beside the lock.

Many of the same images were used to create both pans.  The photos for these pans were shoot over several minuets.

Pan #1
It shows the locks masters allowing a ship to enter by moving the swing bridge.  And then later opening the other end of the lock to lower the water level.

It shows the locks masters closing up the lock just after a ship had entered.  And then later opening the other end of the lock to raise the water level.
